Empowerment can come in many ways. I remember an incident that happened in 2020 during the pandemic. I was visiting a customer who was in the business of manufacturing Covid19 test kits. There kits were able to provide the Covid results in 2.5 hours which at that time was unheard of. The customer said that she was in a crisis because she could not get reagents and the Q-PCR. My company was providing Q-PCR and although the product was not part of my portfolio, I worked on getting her a demo with our company. I wanted to help this customer as I empathised with her, and I felt good that I could contribute to something bigger and to the country. The customer is very successful today and we have become friends. I felt empowered as I was able to move things quickly during a difficult time.
