I acquired a leadership position when I was in my mid-30s. I looked quite young for the position. At an important event where I was hosting customers, I was standing in the front and greeting them. But many people walked right past me thinking that I might be the admin person, a marketing representative or maybe the coffee girl. I was not taken seriously as I should have been with respect to my role. To change things, I started dressing in a way that would make me look older and change my image as well so people would start taking me seriously.
