Last month, I visited Chikmagalur with my friends. It was raining in the quaint hill station, and we were skeptical about how much we would be able to explore. But then the owner of the homestay, where we were staying, assured us that it would be fun to hike around in the rains. He also informed that the rare Neelakurinji flowers were in full bloom, and we should check them out.
The Neelakurinji flowers, that gives Nilgiris its name, bloom once in 12 years. Initially as the car drew up the Neelakurinji covered blue hills, we were awed by the sight that unfolded before us. I and my three friends decided to take all the photos we can, but then someone suggested, “Why don’t we try climbing up the hill?” It was tough as there were no steps and the rain had left behind a sludge while clouds allowed limited visibility. We had to literally scramble up, but once we were up, we decided to forget that we were adults dressed up for perfect photos. We literally rolled in the mud, slipped, laughed at each other, playing together like kids.
It was one of those little moments which allowed my #myinnerchild to feel free, unrestrained, and fearless. I wish we get to revive our #innerchild every once in a while to beat stress and enjoy life more.
