My younger self was bullied in school for many years. I was attacked for being different, skinny, too smart, not smart enough and everything in between. Over time it eroded my self confidence and limited my ability to make friends. Imperfection and insecurity surrounded me like a cloud for a big part of my childhood marring achievements and happy moments.
Through time I learned how to shut out these negative voices and feelings and revel in the beauty of diversity. I was treated this way because I was/am different and that’s ok. We are all unique in our own way. These experiences made me resent oppression and discrimination with a passion! I stand hard against harassment of any kind. It has also taught me to embrace all differences. We are special and everyone brings something unique to this life. We are ALL perfect in imperfect ways.
This mindset drives my behaviour at home with my family, at work and throughout my life. I believe that by realizing each other’s differences it can help people discover their own unique brand and what they can bring to the table personally and professionally. I leverage the insights my challenges has given me to help people discover their own potential which is my passion.
I look back at my younger self and tell her it’s ok. Everything is the way it is supposed to be.
