Being the youngest in the family is a blessing, but if you have an elder brother who is academically accomplished, and this is not your strong area, then there is a challenge!! Brothers went to the same school and he would be in the top 10 and my story was the opposite. Being written off due to this was very common and I was used to this, at school or at home. I was not the first name that would come to mind for anything academic or work that required discipline. It was in my 9th standard that my class teacher Jude D’Couta saw something in me and nominated my name for an Elocution Competition. I was to recite a poem with expressions and by heart. She said, “I trust you have it in you to do well”. This out of the blue recognition made me give my best, I participated in the competition and did fairly well. The biggest difference this made was my love for the English language, I started reading English books and developed taste buds for the language. I have never looked back, this improved my reading, writing, and speaking skills. It made me believe in myself to accomplish results academically. I can never forget my class teacher for what she did, a small step from her, but a giant leap for me. This #LittleMe #InspiringMe moment has stayed with me and the teacher forever remains etched in my heart.
