Every time there’s a task at hand and I wonder if I have it in me to do it well, my mind travels back in time.
I am 8. My favorite table clock just stopped working. I am very annoyed. I had just learned to read time on an analog clock. My dad, the super fixer, was out of town. Without a second thought, I decided to take things into my own hands. If dad can, so can I. I turned the clock around, found a small screwdriver in my father’s toolbox, and got to work, all the while wondering why I have never seen a woman use a screwdriver. But that’s a topic for another day. The parts of a clock were surprisingly simple to understand, all I needed was the will to learn something new and the courage to just do it. And that day I got my clock to work.
That memory reinstills in me the childish #optimism we all tend to lose as we become adults – ‘I want it to work so I’m just going to do it.’. And it has worked in my favor, every single time. #LittleMeInspiringMe
