I had a bad career start. Soon after my graduation, I ended up in a job where I couldn’t give my 100%. Couple of years into the apparel industry, I gave up.
I did not know where I was heading to.
I could not decide the path that I had to take.
I tried my hands at many opportunities, but nothing seemed to be a solid one.
Then, I joined a company to check the proof of Ad designs done for yellow pages, just to keep me engaged. Spell-check was my primary job all day. I became nervous thinking where this job was taking me to. I had no aim or ambition.
But something got in to me while I was working there checking numerous Ad designs. I starting loving ‘Design’. I enrolled for a short term course to learn more about it.
A year later, after getting married, I moved to a big new city, and tried to re-start my career with lots of dreams and aspirations. I attended a lot of interviews and in spite of having a decent design portfolio, I couldn’t win a job. I was asked to work for ‘FREE’ in one of the companies, citing the reason that I was a fresher. After many struggles, eventually, I joined a new and ambitious AD agency, as a ‘Web Artist’ whose owners were young, positive & inspiring. But I was on my own. There was no senior to help or provide guidance. This naturally helped me to cultivate the habit of being self-driven from the very start.
Before starting my work, the owner of the company called me and said ‘Designers, especially freshers, in an effort to produce designs on their own, over-complicate the process. It is always best to look for inspirations and references’. That was gold for me.
My first project was to design and launch a website for a famous hotel, situated in the center of the city. I took that golden advice very seriously and did a lot of research and produced my first website design. The client loved the website. Whoa, what a relief!
When people started loving my designs, little me started loving ‘Design’ even more, which inspired & drove me for a promising career. A decade of design journey with #LittleMeInspiringMe in each & every step. My vision & path for the next decade is clear as crystal. My dreams are bigger and aspirations are mightier. I want to accomplish as a ‘Brand Strategist’. With #LittleMeInspiringMe I am sure I am not too far from achieving it.
