As a child, I was diagnosed with severe Sickle Cell Anemia. My condition prevented me from having the simple pleasure of the company of kids as I couldn’t participate in many events because my body couldn’t endure physical activities. I wasn’t happy with the situation I was in and I felt like a loser and an underachiever that had no life. Not having many friends to spend time led me to befriend my laptop which was always there for me with just a push of a button.
It was just me and my gadgets, and I never placed any hope in the tech skills that I was acquiring as it was just my way of getting distracted from the pain episodes I used to get. Although I couldn’t see the brighter side, God clearly had a plan for me – what I considered a pass time and a hobby is what I do for a living today. I am an IT consultant working in a global firm called Protiviti – and an accomplished one who has developed a cybersecurity penetration testing tool used by thousands of users around the globe, and I’ve also built multiple UI/UX profiles for leading mobile/web app projects. Sometimes, the vision may not be clear until you believe in the path you are taking.
